The charitable trust ‘Lowly Heart’ began this scented candle project in mid-2018 with members of the Western Park Village. Reconnect worked with Lowly Heart in 2019 but have now taken over the project. However, Lowly heart is fervently assisting Reconnect behind the scenes.
As income disparity grows in NZ, individuals in need have become more noticeable. Despite government support, many are still struggling with financial hardship. This candle project started with a charity named ‘Lowly Heart’ back in 2018 with participants from Ranui, West Auckland, in an effort to support people’s journey towards reconnecting back into society. Reconnect is now continuing the mission to provide working opportunities for those in need. 100% of the profit will be used for the participants and operations of the programme.
